Alashkert Beat Van in Dramatic Armenian Premier League Match

Alashkert claimed an important victory over Van in the opening match of the 26th round of the 2025/26 Fastex Premier League season. The game was played at the Charentsavan City Stadium and ended with a narrow 1-0 win for the visitors.

The only goal of the match came in the second half. In the 58th minute, Alashkert were awarded a penalty, and Karen Nalbandyan confidently converted from the spot to put his team ahead.

The closing stages of the match turned out to be truly dramatic. In stoppage time, in the 91st minute, Alashkert goalkeeper Arsen Beglaryan committed a foul inside his own penalty area, and the referee awarded Van a penalty.

Jonel Desiré stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Beglaryan immediately made up for his mistake. The Alashkert goalkeeper saved the penalty and rescued his team from dropping points.

Thanks to this victory, Alashkert moved to 50 points and strengthened their position in second place in the Armenian championship standings. Van remained on 31 points after the defeat and sit sixth in the table.
