Banfield’s 24-year-old midfielder Thomas Adoryan scored in the Copa Argentina Round of 16 match against Midland.
Adoryan started the game and played the full 90 minutes. The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, before Banfield won the penalty shootout 4-3. Thomas did not take a penalty in the shootout.
It was Adoryan’s first goal of the season. The 24-year-old midfielder had previously registered two assists in the Argentine league.
Adoryan has been taking on an increasingly important role at Banfield this season and is gradually becoming one of the team’s key players. His performances also raise the question of a possible return to the Armenia national team.
In 2025, Adoryan made two appearances for Armenia in friendly matches, when John van ’t Schip was still in charge of the national team. However, he has yet to receive a call-up under Yeghishe Melikyan.
With the victory over Midland, Banfield advanced to the Copa Argentina quarter-finals.
