Football club "Tatran Prešov" is confidently moving towards Slovakia’s top league. After 19 rounds, the team leads the second division with a 7-point advantage, displaying consistent performance and strong results. A key role in the club’s success is played by 23-year-old defensive midfielder Abov Avetisyan.
Avetisyan’s Career and Development
This season, Abov Avetisyan has played 12 league matches and 4 games in the Slovak Cup. The midfielder is gradually becoming a key player for "Tatran", influencing the central area of the field.
Avetisyan is the cousin of Armenia national team striker and "Universitatea Cluj" (Romania) player Artur Miranyan. Born in Donetsk, he started his career in "Shakhtar" academy but moved to Hungary at the age of 15, where he played for "Kisvárda". With the Hungarian club, Avetisyan made only 3 appearances in the top league before deciding to continue his career in Slovakia.
Abov Avetisyan, a player at Shakhtar Academy, met Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
For most of his career, Avetisyan played as a right-back, but in recent seasons, he has been used more frequently as a defensive midfielder.
In 2021, he played one match for Armenia’s U21 national team. His performances for "Tatran Prešov" this season have caught the attention of football experts, and if the team secures promotion to Slovakia’s top league, he will have the opportunity to prove himself at a higher level and earn a call-up to Armenia’s senior national team.
