Rodri, Cubarsi and Simon win individual awards at 2026 World Cup. Mbappe finishes as top scorer

After the final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the winners of the tournament’s individual awards were announced.

Spain, who defeated Argentina 1-0 in the final and became world champions for the second time in history, claimed several of the biggest individual prizes.

Rodri named World Cup 2026 Best Player

Spain captain Rodri was named the best player of the 2026 World Cup and received the tournament’s Golden Ball award.

The midfielder enjoyed an outstanding tournament, becoming a key figure in the center of the pitch and one of the leaders of La Roja on their way to the title.

The Silver Ball was awarded to Argentina captain Lionel Messi, while the Bronze Ball went to France forward Kylian Mbappe.

Cubarsi wins Best Young Player award

Spain defender Pau Cubarsi was named the best young player of the 2026 World Cup.

The 19-year-old enjoyed one of the brightest tournaments of his career. Spain conceded only one goal throughout the competition, with Cubarsi becoming one of the main reasons behind the team’s defensive stability.

Simon receives Golden Glove

Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon won the Golden Glove award as the best goalkeeper of the 2026 World Cup.

Simon had a flawless tournament, conceding only one goal in seven World Cup matches.

Ferran Torres named Final Player of the Match

Ferran Torres, who scored the only goal in the final against Argentina, was named the best player of the decisive match.

After the victory, the forward said the achievement belonged to the whole of Spain:

“This goal was for 47 million people. It was not only mine or the 26 players who are here. I believe today’s result was written in the sky. This game was for us to win, and we did everything possible so that our people could feel they were with us.”

Torres also admitted that finals are always difficult, especially when facing a team with Lionel Messi:

“All finals are difficult. When Messi is on the other side, there is always nervousness, but in the end we always stayed true to our football and showed it again today.”

Mbappe wins Golden Boot

France forward Kylian Mbappe won the World Cup Golden Boot award.

He scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists during the tournament, finishing as the leading scorer.

Mbappe also broke Lionel Messi’s record for most goals scored at World Cups in history, reaching 22 goals.

Olise becomes top assist provider

Another France international, Michael Olise, finished as the best assist provider of the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder ended the tournament with 7 assists.

The 2026 World Cup ended with Spain’s triumph, while the main individual awards were distributed as follows:
