Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Alexander Kovalenko has changed his decision regarding representing the Armenian national team, according to the InsideYan Telegram channel.
According to the source, the player is still hoping to receive a call-up to the Russian national team. As a result, Kovalenko will not join Armenia for their upcoming matches.
It was previously reported that the midfielder planned to obtain an Armenian passport in the summer of 2026. He was expected to become eligible to make his debut for Armenia in the UEFA Nations League, which begins in September.
Kovalenko has previously represented Russia at various youth international levels.
