On May 30 in Leipzig, the pommel horse finals of the 2025 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships took place. Armenian athletes, 17-year-old Hamlet Manukyan and 18-year-old Mamikon Khachatryan, made a historic debut at the senior continental championship.
Hamlet Manukyan became the European champion with a score of 14.766. His performance stood out for its high difficulty, stability, and clean execution — he confidently completed his routine and earned a well-deserved gold medal.
Mamikon Khachatryan also impressed in the pommel horse final, winning the silver medal with a score of 14.733. Despite this being his first competition at such a level, Mamikon proved he is one of the most promising gymnasts of the new generation.
The difficulty of Hamlet Manukyan’s routine was 5.6, while Mamikon Khachatryan’s was 5.7, but Hamlet’s execution was cleaner. Italian gymnast Gabriello Targetta had the highest difficulty score of 5.9 but finished third with a total of 14.400.
Two Armenian gymnasts — the top two spots.
