Armenian PFL/Bellator fighter Zhora Ayvazyan (15–1) won the ACBJJ Grand Prix in Combat Jiu-Jitsu, held in Krasnodar, earning a $10,000 prize.
On his way to the title, Ayvazyan defeated two MMA fighters — Mavlet Amirov (11–4) and Nikita Chistyakov (15–13–1). The final bout against Inal Elteshev did not take place due to Elteshev’s injury, making Ayvazyan the automatic winner of the tournament.
Combat jiu-jitsu is a relatively new martial art that combines Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques with body and leg strikes.
After the tournament, Ayvazyan said that MMA remains his main focus, but he was interested in trying a new format:
“It was a useful experience and helped me stay in shape. I still have a contract with PFL, but they haven’t offered any fights for a while, so I was glad to get back on the mat,” he said.
Ayvazyan last fought in MMA rules in September 2024, defeating UFC veteran Yancy Medeiros at a PFL event.
