The Armenian women's national tennis team continues its confident performance in the group stage of the Billie Jean King Cup. On June 17, the team led by Gayane Movsisyan secured its second consecutive win in Group III of the Europe Zone, defeating Andorra 2-1.
In the first singles match, Alina Soghomonyan beat Judith Cartana 6-3, 6-1 in just over an hour. However, in the second match, Ani Amiraghyan couldn’t handle the opponent’s leader, world No. 135 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva, losing 0-6, 1-6.
The outcome was decided in the doubles match, where the pair of Soghomonyan/Amiraghyan convincingly defeated the Picelli/Jimenez Kasintseva duo 6-2, 6-1, securing the overall win for Armenia.
Earlier, the Armenian team had swept San Marino 3-0. After two rounds, Armenia tops the group with two points. On June 18, they will face Malta, which also has two victories.
