Ranking wrestling tournament in Budapest ends: Results of the final day

From July 17 to 20, the fourth UWW ranking wrestling tournament took place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. On the final day, July 20, medals were contested in seven Greco-Roman weight categories.

Representing Armenia, Hayk Khloyan (97 kg) won a silver medal. This was his debut senior-level tournament under UWW. The U23 World Champion secured four victories in Hungary, two of them by technical superiority, and lost 1:3 in the final to Georgian wrestler Giorgi Melia.

Another Armenian wrestler, Karen Aslanyan (63 kg), lost the bronze medal match to Russian athlete Dinislam Bammatov. Samvel Grigoryan (82 kg) was eliminated in the round of 16.

In total, five Armenian wrestlers competed in the tournament — three in Greco-Roman and two in freestyle. Earlier, Armenian freestyle wrestlers won two medals: silver by Arman Andreasyan and bronze by Vazgen Tevanyan.
