Zaur Uguev Reaches World Wrestling Championship Final After 6 Years

Zagreb, September 13, 2025 – The 2025 World Wrestling Championships kicked off today in Zagreb. Medals were contested on the first day of competition in the weight classes of 61 kg, 70 kg, 86 kg, and 125 kg.
The first finalists are already known, and one of them is the Olympic champion, representative of Russia, Zaur Uguev. After five years without a medal at the World Championships, he has advanced to the final of the 2025 World Championships in Croatia. In the semi-final bout, he defeated the young American wrestler Jaxson Forrest with a score of 10-3. Despite the score, the American put up a good fight initially, but in the end, experience proved stronger than youth.
Tomorrow, in the final, he will face Iranian wrestler Ahmad Mohammadnejad.
