Yura Melikyan to continue his career in the Latvian Higher League

Armenia national basketball team player Yura Melikyan will continue his career in Latvia. The center has joined the university club “Latvijas Universitāte” (LU Basketbols), which competes in the Latvian Higher League (LBL) as well as in the joint Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.

The 20-year-old basketball player is a member of both the senior and youth national teams of Armenia. At the recent FIBA U20 European Championship Division B held in Yerevan, Melikyan became the tournament leader in rebounds and double-doubles.

Last season, he played for BKMA Yerevan and spent the second half of the season in the Kazakhstan championship.

Now, Melikyan faces a new challenge — competing at a high level in Latvia.
