Yura Melikyan to continue his career in the Swiss championship

Armenia national team basketball player Yura Melikyan has become a player of Swiss club Starwings Basel. The 21-year-old center has signed a contract with the team, which currently sits in 4th place in the Swiss top division.

Melikyan moves to Switzerland from the Latvian league, where he played for Latvijas Universitāte. This season, the Armenian basketball player has appeared in 12 games, averaging 8.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.

The move to Starwings Basel marks a new stage in the young center’s European career and gives him the opportunity to prove himself at one of the leading clubs in the Swiss championship.

It should be noted that the Armenian national team will play its next game on March 2 against Bulgaria in the EuroBasket 2029 qualifiers.
