Yamal becomes the most productive junior in Champions League history

Barcelona’s young winger Lamine Yamal continues to break age barriers in European football. In the Matchday 6 fixture of the 2025/26 Champions League league phase against Eintracht, the 18-year-old Catalan talent achieved a historic milestone: he is now the most productive player in the tournament’s history among footballers under 19.
After providing an assist to Jules Koundé that secured Barcelona’s 2–1 victory, Yamal’s Champions League tally has reached 14 goal contributions (7 goals and 7 assists). This allowed him to surpass Kylian Mbappé’s previous record of 13 contributions (10 goals and 3 assists).
UEFA’s technical team highlighted the uniqueness of the achievement, noting Yamal’s consistency in matches of the highest level. Despite his age, the winger showcases not only bright individual qualities but also a mature understanding of the game, confidently maintaining his place in Barcelona’s starting lineup.
The match against Eintracht became yet another confirmation of his influence: it was Yamal’s set-piece delivery that led to Koundé’s winning goal. The Catalans, who returned to Camp Nou, made an important step toward reaching the top eight, while Yamal once again reaffirmed his status as Europe’s main wunderkind.
After six rounds, Barcelona sit 14th in the overall table, with the battle for the playoffs still ahead. In January 2026, Barça will face Slavia Prague and Copenhagen — a favorable schedule to try to break into the top eight.
