All About the 2024/25 Armenian Futsal Championship: Format, Prizes, and Key Details

The Armenian futsal season is approaching its climax. On May 25, the second leg of the playoff final between "Yerevan" and "Unisport" will take place at the Football Academy. In the first match earlier this week, "Yerevan" claimed victory after a penalty shootout.

Ahead of what could be the championship-deciding game, Sportaran explains how the Armenian Futsal Championship is structured, what the teams are fighting for, and what prizes await the winners.

Tournament Format: From Regular Season to Dramatic Playoffs

The 2024/25 Armenian Championship began on September 5, 2024, and is being held in two stages.

First, the teams played a double round-robin regular season. "Unisport" won the regular season, triumphing in all 14 matches with a goal difference of 114–24.

All eight teams then advanced to the playoffs, which follow a knockout format: quarterfinals, semifinals, and final.

Each playoff round is played in a best-of-three series. If a match ends in a draw in regular time, extra time and, if necessary, penalties decide the outcome — just like in the first final match between "Yerevan" and "Unisport".

If "Yerevan" wins on May 25, they will be crowned champions. If "Unisport" wins, a decisive third match will be scheduled.

Simultaneously, a third-place series is also being held. In the first match, "Sievan" beat "Araks FAF" 5–2. The second leg will also take place on May 25.

Prize Money: 10 Million Drams for the Title

At the end of the season, the champion of Armenia will receive not only the title but also monetary rewards:

Armenian Champion:

• • 10,000,000 AMD
• • Trophy
• • 25 gold medals
• • And most importantly — a place in next season’s UEFA Futsal Champions League

Runner-up:

• • 6,000,000 AMD
• • 25 silver medals

Third place:

• • 4,000,000 AMD
• • 25 bronze medals

Individual Awards

The Football Federation of Armenia will also present the following awards:

• • Best Player and Best Coach of the season — 700,000 AMD each

• • Top scorer of the championship — 400,000 AMD

• • Fair Play award for the most disciplined team

At the end of the 2025 calendar year, the Player and Coach of the Year (chosen by journalists) will each receive 1,000,000 AMD.

Armenian Cup: Glory Without Cash

It's worth noting that the Armenian Futsal Cup was also held this season. The winner received the trophy and gold medals, while the runner-up received silver medals. However, there is no cash prize for the Cup.

"Yerevan" won the Cup, defeating "Logicon" 12–1 in the final.

Organization and Facts

• • All matches are played at the Football Academy (FFA Technical Center)

• • Each team pays an entry fee: 500,000 AMD

• • Teams may register up to 2 foreign players, but players from EAEU countries and ethnic Armenians without Armenian citizenship are not considered foreign

Player Salaries and Club Professionalism

It should be noted that not all teams in the championship are fully professional or pay high wages. However, "Yerevan", "Sieven", and "Unisport" are exceptions.

Players in these clubs can focus solely on sports, receive competitive salaries, and do not need to work additional jobs.

The average salary in these clubs is around 200,000 AMD per month.

Futsal in Armenia has become significantly more professional in recent years — both in terms of game quality and organization. The final series between "Yerevan" and "Unisport" is a clear testament to that.
