Slovenian club Celje, which could face Armenian side Noah in the UEFA Conference League Round of 32, has lost one of its key players.
Daniel Šturm, a 27-year-old midfielder of the Slovenia national team, has moved to Czech club Sigma. The transfer fee amounted to €1.9 million, becoming the most expensive sale in the history of the Slovenian club. The player’s market value had been estimated at €800,000.
At the same time, Celje is considering the possibility of bringing back another Slovenia international, Svit Sešlar, who currently plays for Turkish side Eyüpspor. The market value of the 23-year-old midfielder is around €2.5 million.
Last season, Sešlar played for Celje on loan and became one of the team’s leaders, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions.
It should be recalled that in the Conference League Round of 32, Armenia’s Noah will face one of two opponents — Slovenia’s Celje or the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar. The draw will take place on January 16.
