The Armenian transfer market continues to see interesting moves. One of the most experienced players in the league, Hrayr Mkoyan, has left his hometown club Shirak to join Van from Charentsavan. The former Armenia national team defender will turn 39 this year but still remains active and had a decent season with Shirak.
Mkoyan, a central defender, is a true legend of Armenian football. He played 52 matches for the national team and scored one goal. At the club level, he has represented Ararat, Ulisses, Mika, Gandzasar, Ararat-Armenia, Alashkert, and of course, Shirak. His career also includes stints abroad in Russia, Iran, and the Czech Republic.
Another experienced defender, 32-year-old Arman Hovhannisyan, has returned to Ararat Yerevan, signing a one-year contract. He previously played for the team during the 2022/23 season and represented Pyunik last season.
Over his career, Hovhannisyan has played in Ukraine (Zirka), Kazakhstan (Tobol), and several Armenian clubs, including Shirak, Gandzasar, Ararat-Armenia, and Pyunik. He also has international experience with the Armenia national team.
