"West Armenia" issues official statement after exclusion from the Armenian Premier League

Football club West Armenia has issued an official statement following its exclusion from the 2024/25 season of the Fastex Armenian Premier League. The decision was made by the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) after the team failed to appear for its Round 30 match against Ararat-Armenia. The club was handed a technical defeat (0:3), and a second no-show led to automatic disqualification from the competition.
In the statement, the club expressed regret over the situation and noted that the new management began rebuilding the squad in July 2024. Despite a number of challenges, they managed to create a competitive team with a focus on developing young Armenian players. Each match featured 5 to 8 local players in the starting lineup.
The club also highlighted the achievements of several players, including call-ups to the Armenian U-21 national team — defenders Aventis Aventisyan, Armen Sargsyan, and midfielder Artur Israelian, who played the season on loan at West Armenia.
Notable progress was seen in players like Vahram Makhsudyan, Erik Smbatyan, and goalkeeper Mkhitar Umreyan. Others, including Tigran Ayunts, David Petrosyan, and Eric Ljansberg, received regular playing time throughout the season.
Veteran players Aram Kocharyan and Martin Grigoryan returned from serious injuries and made a significant contribution alongside experienced players like Artur Danielyan, Artur Kartashyan, and several quality foreign players, under the leadership of head coach Patrick Papyan.
The club concluded by thanking the football community for its support and fair competition, stating:
"Thank you for the worthy competition and cooperation. See you on the field!
