Undefeated Armenian boxer Vartan Arutyunyan (11–0) will fight for the WBA bridgerweight world title (up to 101.6 kg) against reigning champion Georgiy Yunovidov (11–1). The bout will headline a major RCC Boxing event and will take place on February 14 in Chelyabinsk at the Traktor Arena.
For the 26-year-old Arutyunyan, this will be the first title opportunity of his professional career — and immediately a fight for a full world championship belt. Vartan is considered one of the fastest-rising fighters in the division and has already secured a place in the top 10 of the global bridgerweight rankings. Possessing serious knockout power (7 KOs in 11 fights), he has significantly improved his conditioning, speed, and tactical versatility. His bout against Kudukhov in August 2025 showed that Arutyunyan is ready both physically and mentally for elite-level competition.
The 33-year-old Yunovidov will make the first defense of his WBA title. His move to bridgerweight dramatically changed his career: in the new division, Georgiy emerged as a fast, highly technical boxer with a high work rate. On his way to the belt, he stopped Mirzokhidjon Abdullaev, then confidently defeated Kudukhov by decision, and in July 2025 knocked out Evgeny Romanov (19–2) to claim the championship.
An interesting detail: Georgiy Yunovidov also has Armenian roots — his mother and wife are Armenian.
Yunovidov vs. Arutyunyan will be the centerpiece of a world-class boxing night promoted by RCC Boxing Promotions and could significantly impact the balance of power in the bridgerweight division. For the champion, it is the first title defense; for the challenger, a chance to burst into the global elite with a statement victory.
