Official: Captain of the Armenian national team, Varazdat Haroyan, has returned to his home club, FC Pyunik. The 32-year-old defender joined the Armenian club as a free agent. Haroyan's last club was Chinese side Qingdao West Coast.
Varazdat previously played over 180 matches for Pyunik, representing the team until 2016. He then continued his career abroad, playing for clubs in Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Spain, Cyprus, and China.
After nine years abroad, the leader of the Armenian national team has returned to his home club to help defend the championship title.
This winter, significant changes occurred at Pyunik. Arthur Soghomonyan transferred ownership of the club to Anton Farber, a well-known football agent. Currently, the reigning Armenian champion sits in third place in the league table and continues to fight for the title.
Haroyan’s return marks the reformation of one of the most experienced defensive duos in Armenian football history — Taron Voskanyan and Varazdat Haroyan. The pair previously played together for Pyunik and the Armenian national team, sharing the field in 175 matches.
