Vanik Sukiasyan to switch sporting nationality and represent Armenia

18-year-old centre-back Vanik Sukiasyan will switch his sporting nationality in order to represent Armenian national teams in the future. This was reported by insider Ivan Karpov.

Sukiasyan holds both Russian and Armenian citizenship. This season, the defender is enjoying an impressive debut campaign in Russia’s Second League with Cosmos Khimki.

Standing 186 cm tall, Sukiasyan has stood out not only with his defensive reliability, but also with his attacking contribution. In the first part of the season, he scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 12 matches. According to Karpov, the player is also among the team leaders in interceptions and duels won.

At the same time, it is important to note that Sukiasyan has been on the radar of Armenian football for a long time. The defender had previously been called up to Armenia’s youth national team while he was still playing for Khimki’s youth side.
