The football club “Van” (Charentsavan), which competed in the Armenian Premier League, has effectively lost its core. The main squad and coaching staff are officially transferring to Yerevan-based “Alashkert”, which from the new season will become the platform for continuing the football project of Russian investor Anton Zingarevich.
Zingarevich has signed a co-ownership agreement of “Alashkert” with entrepreneur Bagrat Navoyan. Their goal is to build a strong and competitive club in Yerevan. As stated in the announcement, the project initiated last season in “Van” will now continue under this new structure.
Starting from June 20, the team will begin preparations for the new season under the “Alashkert” banner. Tigran Mkrtchyan has been appointed vice-president of the club.
As for the future of “Van” itself, it remains uncertain. The club has lost its coaches, players, and main investor. There is no official information on whether it will continue to participate in any division. The decision will likely depend on the position of the club’s leadership and the Football Federation of Armenia.
Previously, Anton Zingarevich owned Bulgaria’s “Botev” (Plovdiv), and earlier — England’s “Reading”, but after being banned from entering Bulgaria for 10 years, he withdrew from the club’s management. He is now fully focused on developing the project in Armenia.
Anton Zingarevich is the son of billionaire Boris Zingarevich, he lived in England for a long time and managed the clubs Reading and Everton.
