Brazilian winger Vagner Gonçalves has left Yerevan-based Pyunik FC. The 29-year-old footballer joined the Armenian club in the summer of 2023 after transferring from Dinamo Tbilisi.
Gonçalves made his debut for Pyunik in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League against Estonia’s Narva Trans, a match that ended in a 2–0 victory. In his very first season, the Brazilian managed to establish himself as a regular starter and played a significant role in Pyunik’s Armenian Premier League title win in the 2023/24 season.
During his time at Pyunik, Gonçalves made 58 appearances, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists.
In the summer of 2024, during a pre-season training camp, Wagner suffered a serious injury that sidelined him for a long period. He was only able to return to the pitch in February of this year.
It should be noted that Wagner Gonçalves is the third player to leave Pyunik this winter, following the departures of Serob Galstyan and Daniil Polyansky.
It is also expected that winger Vyacheslav Afyan will return to Pyunik this winter. During his two-year military service, Afyan played for BKMA, where he became one of the key players of the club and the Armenia U21 national team.
