Armenian Athletics Championship 2026 Held in Artashat: Winners Announced

The 2026 Armenian Athletics Championship was held at the city stadium in Artashat. The tournament took place last weekend and became one of the key stages in forming the national team squad.
The results of the championship were reported by Grigor Barseghyan, head coach of the Armenian athletics national team.
Athletes representing Gyumri, Vanadzor, Yerevan, and Kapan became Armenian champions. Several competitors managed to win in more than one event.
In the men’s competition, Razmik Ghazaryan from Gyumri won the 100-meter race. He also became Armenian champion in the long jump and triple jump. Stepan Andreasyan from Vanadzor won the 200-meter and 400-meter races, while Arman Ghambaryan, also representing Vanadzor, was the best in the 800 meters.
In the middle-distance events, Yervand Mkrtchyan from Gyumri stood out by winning both the 1500-meter and 3000-meter races. In the technical events, Manuk Manukyan from Gyumri became champion in the shot put and discus throw, while Vahan Manukyan, also from Gyumri, won the javelin throw. The Vanadzor team claimed victory in the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
In the women’s competition, Marianna Baghyan from Vanadzor became champion in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Nina Muradyan from Gyumri won the 400 meters, Ellada Alaverdyan from Vanadzor won the 800 meters, and Mari Sargsyan from Gyumri took first place in the 1500 meters. The Vanadzor team also won the women’s 4×400-meter relay.
In the women’s technical events, Kristine Harutyunyan from Gyumri won the shot put and javelin throw, Lilit Mkrtchyan from Gyumri was the best in the discus throw, and Sofia Javakhyan from Yerevan won the long jump and triple jump. Meline Adamyan from Kapan became Armenian champion in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
After the national championship, the Armenian team will finalize its squad for the European Athletics Championships for Small Countries. The tournament will begin on May 31 in Monaco.
