A tournament dedicated to legendary Armenian national team goalkeeper and coach Roman Berezovsky took place in Vanadzor. The competition was organized with the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan and brought together about a hundred young football players.
The event gained a special atmosphere thanks to the honorary guests: representatives of Moscow’s Lokomotiv, former Armenian national team defender Sargis Hovhannisyan, and well-known Russian footballer Dmitry Loskov attended the matches at the organizers’ invitation.
The main intrigue was the final of the youth championship, where the team of Sardarapet village school faced schoolchildren from Aragatsavan. In a tense battle, the Sardarapet players achieved a convincing 5:2 victory and took home the main trophy.
The Football Federation of Armenia summed up the tournament results and presented individual awards. Gagik Yazichyan was named top scorer, Suren Sirekanyan received the best player award, and the Fair Play prize went to Sargis Karapetyan.
The Roman Berezovsky tournament became a memorable event for young athletes and once again highlighted the legendary goalkeeper’s contribution to the development of Armenian football.
