Armenia Announces the Launch of the “Best in Sports 2025” Competition

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia has officially announced the launch of the traditional “Best in Sports 2025” competition. This annual initiative aims to encourage athletes and coaches who have achieved the most significant results and made a substantial contribution to strengthening Armenia’s reputation on the international stage.
How the Winners Will Be Determined
The winners will be selected through a closed and confidential vote conducted by accredited sports journalists. The voting results will be processed and finalized in accordance with the approved procedure.
Organizational work will be carried out by a special commission established by order of the Minister of ESCS. The commission will include representatives of the ministry, the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, and relevant public organizations. The formation of the commission is expected to be completed by December 10.
Who Can Participate
Athletes and coaches who compete as part of the national teams of the Republic of Armenia are eligible to participate. By December 18, the ministry will present the commission with lists of nominees in the following categories:

Olympic sports
-
Non-Olympic sports recognized by the IOC
-
Paralympic disciplines
-
Deaflympic sports
The lists will include athletes who achieved significant results in 2025 at the Olympic, Paralympic, and Deaflympic Games, World and European Championships, European Games, World Chess Olympiad, Universiade, and other high-level international tournaments. Special attention will be given to those who contributed to Armenia’s international prestige and helped strengthen ties between Armenia and the diaspora.
Among the nominees for Best Coach will be head coaches, senior coaches, assistant coaches, and personal coaches whose athletes showed the highest results throughout the year.
Competition Categories
The commission will review lists corresponding to the following nominations:

Top 3 Best Athletes of the Year

Best Female Athlete
-
Best Athlete with a Disability
-
Best Team (team sports and chess)
-
Best Young Athlete
-
Comeback/Breakthrough of the Year
-
Athlete Who Best Represented the Republic of Armenia Internationally
-
Best Coach
-
Audience Choice Award (based on online voting)
The filtered and approved lists will be submitted by the commission to the ministry by December 19.
Awards for the Winners
Winners in each category will receive cash prizes and certificates. The recipient of the Audience Choice Award will additionally be presented with a commemorative souvenir.
The ministry will provide further information regarding the competition timeline and the accreditation process for sports journalists in the near future.
