Today in Bratislava, during the 2025 European Freestyle Wrestling Championships, the final match in the 61 kg weight category will take place, where Arsen Harutyunyan (Armenia) will face Zaur Uguev (Russia).
Ahead of the match, sports journalist Vyacheslav Abdusalamov spoke with both finalists. Both noted that the audience can expect a spectacular and beautiful contest. They also emphasized that they are close friends and know each other’s style well, having trained together many times at training camps in Sochi.
Arsen Harutyunyan stated that he watched Masunosuke Ono’s match against Uguev, but in general, he doesn’t follow his opponents’ bouts — he prefers to stay fully focused on his own wrestling.
It’s worth noting that the two wrestlers have met twice before in international tournaments, and both matches ended in Uguev’s favor:
