UEFA to Consider Israel’s Disqualification

The UEFA Executive Committee may put to a vote on Tuesday the suspension of Israel’s national team and clubs from all European competitions.
According to Israel Hayom, Qatar plays a key role in pushing the initiative, having increased pressure on UEFA members after Israel’s failed attack in Doha, and is actively lobbying for Israel’s exclusion. Most countries support the move, with only two or three opposing it.
The Israel Football Association is holding talks with its allies in an attempt to prevent the issue from being included on the agenda. If the suspension is approved, Israeli clubs, including Maccabi Tel Aviv, risk losing the chance to participate in European tournaments as early as this season.
In addition, the Israel national team would be excluded from the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where it currently sits third in Group I and still has a chance to advance.
Earlier, media also reported that Spain would refuse to participate in the 2026 World Cup if Israel qualifies.
