Vahan Bichakhchyan will have a new coach at Legia

Warsaw’s Legia has announced the end of cooperation with head coach Edward Iordănescu. The Romanian specialist’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement on October 31.

“We met with coach Iordănescu and jointly decided to end our cooperation. After analyzing the results, we concluded that the team needs changes in the current situation that will help fully unlock its potential and achieve its goals,” said Legia’s sporting director Michał Żewłakow.

Iordănescu took charge of Legia in June 2025. Under his leadership, the team won the Polish Super Cup and qualified for the main stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The club thanked the coach for his work and wished him success in his future career.

Until a new head coach is appointed, assistant Iñaki Astiz will take over as interim manager. Along with Iordănescu, his staff members Alexandru Radu, Bogdan Merișanu, and Michele Iannucci are also leaving the club.

After 12 rounds of the Polish league, Legia sits in 10th place with 16 points. In the Conference League, the team is currently 18th in the league stage with 3 points after two matches, and in the Polish Cup they were recently eliminated in the Round of 32 by Pogoń.

Armenian national team midfielder Vahan Bichakhchyan was a regular under Iordănescu, playing both as a right winger and attacking midfielder. This season, he has already made 20 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in all competitions.

It’s worth noting that in the Conference League, Legia will face Armenian club Noa in Yerevan on December 11.
