On February 15, the IMMAF 2025 European MMA Championship kicked off in Belgrade. On the first day of the tournament, young athletes competed in the under-11 and under-13 age categories.
Armenian national team athletes competed in several weight classes and won six medals, including one gold.
The gold medal was claimed by Mark Gambaryan (30 kg, U11). In his group, he defeated opponents from Ireland and Israel, and in the final, he secured victory over a Ukrainian fighter with an anaconda choke submission.
The silver medal was awarded to Artak Melkonyan (34 kg, U11). He secured confident victories over athletes from Ireland and the Netherlands but lost in the final to a fighter from England.
Another silver medal was brought to the team by Mushegh Tovmasyan (37 kg, U13). On his way to the final, he defeated his teammate, two Irish fighters, and an opponent from Israel but lost the decisive match to a representative of England.
The bronze medal was won by Aram Ambartsumyan (31 kg, U13). He started the tournament with a victory over an Azerbaijani fighter but then suffered defeats against an English athlete and two Ukrainian competitors.
Another bronze medal went to Misha Simonyan (34 kg, U13). He won against opponents from Greece and Ireland but lost the decisive fight to a Ukrainian fighter.
Monika Asryan won bronze (37 kg, U13 girls) — defeated opponents from Montenegro and Serbia, lost to two opponents from England.
On February 16, the under-15 competitions will take place, followed by the under-17 category on February 17. The tournament for adults and youth will start on February 19. The Armenian national team will compete in all age groups.
