Today, March 2, the Armenian First League resumed. Three matches took place as part of Round 18.
FC Hayq secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Bentonit. The only goal of the match was scored by former Armenia national team player Armen Manucharyan.
Special attention was drawn to the match due to the presence of Isaac Drogba, the 25-year-old son of legendary striker Didier Drogba, in Hayq’s squad list. Isaac did not appear on the field, but it is already known that he has signed a contract with the Armenian club, although the team has not yet made an official announcement regarding the transfer.
Like his father, Isaac Drogba plays as a forward, though he is smaller in stature, standing at 178 cm tall. A graduate of Chelsea’s academy in London, he has yet to make a major impact at senior level. Previously, Drogba Jr. played in Italy’s Serie D and in Belgium’s fourth division.
In other matches of the round, league leaders Sardarapat crushed Shirak-2 with a 5–0 scoreline, with Hamlet Minasyan scoring four goals. The match between Urartu-2 and Ararat-2 ended in a 1–1 draw.
