The Armenian Cup final between Noah and Urartu will be officiated by a high-level international refereeing team. Belgian referee Erik Lambrechts has been appointed as the main referee for the decisive match.
The game will take place on May 14 and will kick off at 19:00 Yerevan time.
Lambrechts’ appointment is particularly notable given his experience in European competitions. This season, the 41-year-old Belgian referee has officiated four Champions League matches and three Europa League matches. In addition, he was invited to take charge of one of the most intense fixtures in European football — the Greek derby between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos.
Lambrechts’ statistics this season also attract attention. In 33 matches, he has shown only 2 red cards, but has awarded 10 penalties. This suggests that the referee rarely resorts to sending players off, while carefully assessing incidents inside the penalty area.
The Armenian Cup final between Noah and Urartu will be one of the key matches of the season in Armenian football. For both teams, it is a chance to finish the campaign with a trophy, while the appointment of a referee with Champions League experience gives the match additional status.
It should be noted that the recent Armenian league match between Noah and Ararat-Armenia was officiated by Italian referees.
