The official account of Croatian club Osijek has announced that central defender Styopa Mkrtchyan has been called up to the Armenian national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League play-off matches against Georgia, scheduled for March 20 and 23.
Stepa Mkrtchyan is the first player we know to receive a call-up under the leadership of the new head coach John van 't Schip. The full squad list will be released later, but it is already clear that the Dutch specialist has made his selection.
The 22-year-old Mkrtchyan previously struggled with health issues but has recently regained good form and has been playing more frequently. This season, he has made 9 appearances for Osijek but missed Armenia's last six matches due to injury and did not participate in the Nations League group stage.
