The U17 European Judo Championships Have Started: First Winners and Medalists Announced

On June 26, the 2025 European U17 Judo Championships kicked off in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. On the first day of competition, medals were contested in the men’s -50 kg, -55 kg, and -60 kg weight categories, as well as the women’s -40 kg, -44 kg, and -48 kg divisions.
Armenian judokas went without medals on this day:

50 kg: Narek Davtyan defeated a Moldovan opponent but lost to a French athlete in the next round.

55 kg: Shavarsh Naapetyan lost his opening match to a Moldovan judoka.

60 kg: Khachatur Jangryan began with a win over a Greek athlete, but was eliminated in the second round by a Hungarian competitor.
However, representing the Russian team, Armenian judoka Artur Sargsyan secured a bronze medal in the -55 kg category.
On the first day, Azerbaijani judokas won three gold medals in the boys’ division. One gold each also went to athletes from Turkey, Russia, and Poland.
