All quarter-finalists of the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been confirmed. The last team to reach the final eight was Switzerland.
In the Round of 16, Switzerland defeated Colombia in a penalty shootout. Regular and extra time ended goalless — 0-0. During the match, Colombia looked closer to scoring and more often created danger near the opponent’s goal, but failed to convert their chances.
As a result, the final ticket to the quarter-finals was decided in a penalty shootout, where Switzerland proved more accurate. In the next round, the Swiss team will face Argentina, who earlier produced a remarkable comeback against Egypt and won 3-2.
