The historical sports drama “Golden Double”, dedicated to the legendary football club Ararat-73, will be released on January 29. The film will be screened in cinemas across Russia and Armenia.
The movie promises to be not only a sports drama, but also a tribute to a great team and the people who forever etched their names into the history of Armenian and Soviet football.
The film “Golden Double” / “ARARAT 73” is dedicated to the memory of Nikita Pavlovich Simonyan — a great footballer, Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR, and renowned coach. At the heart of the story lies a golden chapter of Soviet football: the 1973 season, when Yerevan’s Ararat, under Simonyan’s leadership, achieved the greatest success in its history by securing the “golden double,” winning both the USSR Championship and the USSR Cup.
The role of Nikita Simonyan is played by well-known Russian actor Egor Beroev. The film is directed by Mher Mkrtchyan and Fyodor Lyass.

Former Armenia national team footballer Davit Manoyan also took part in the filming, portraying Ararat defender Alexander Kovalenko.
