USA Wins Two U20 World Wrestling Gold Medals: August 21 Results and All Finalists

Two U20 world champions in freestyle wrestling were crowned in Bratislava on August 21. The decisive bouts in the 61 kg and 86 kg weight categories took place at the World Championships, with both gold medalists representing Team USA.
The finalists in four more weight categories — 57 kg, 65 kg, 79 kg and 92 kg — were also determined. Those finals will take place on August 22.
Team Armenia was represented by three wrestlers on August 21. Sasha Petrosyan, Aren Hayrapetyan and Narek Nikoghosyan were eliminated after their opening bouts.
The U20 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships are being held in Bratislava, Slovakia, from August 16 to 23.

Thus, all three Armenian representatives who competed on August 21 lost their opening bouts.
USA won both finals on August 21
On the first day of freestyle wrestling finals, medals were contested in the 61 kg and 86 kg weight categories. In both cases, U20 world champions came from Team USA.
At 61 kg, Aaron Seidel won gold after a convincing 7:0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Bekassyl Assambek in the final.
In the 86 kg category, American Aeoden Sinclair defeated Ahmad Mukutov 8:4.

- 79 kg: Keivan Garehdaghi (Japan) — Ismail Khaniev (Russia);
- 92 kg: Abolfazl Firouzjaei (Iran) — Sandro Kurashvili (Georgia).
Thus, following the August 21 finals, Team USA has two U20 freestyle wrestling world champions — Aaron Seidel at 61 kg and Aeoden Sinclair at 86 kg. American wrestlers will also have an opportunity to add to their gold-medal tally on August 22: Isaiah Cortez has reached the 57 kg final, while Bowen Bassett has advanced to the 65 kg final.
Competition in the 70 kg, 74 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg weight categories will begin on August 22. Team Armenia will be represented by David Davtyan (70 kg), Vladimir Azaryan (74 kg) and Genrik Haykyan (125 kg).
