Spertsyan: “It’s unpleasant to concede so many goals at home, but we’ll soon make the fans happy”

Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan summed up the match against Portugal, which took place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. In an interview with the FFA press service, the Krasnodar captain noted that the result was painful, but the team will learn from it.

“We knew the game would be very difficult. It’s unpleasant to concede so many goals at home, even if the opponent is Portugal. We’ll try to correct our mistakes and show ourselves properly in the next match against Ireland. We are grateful to the fans for their support and the atmosphere. Right now we are going through a rebuilding stage, but I hope that very soon we’ll make everyone happy,” said the 25-year-old footballer.

As a reminder, in the first round of the Euro 2026 qualifiers, Armenia lost 0–5 to Portugal. The next match for Yeghishe Melikyan’s team will take place on September 9 against Ireland, with kickoff at 20:00.
