Armenia U19 squad: five new players compared to March

The Armenia U19 national team will hold another training camp as part of its preparations for the second round of qualifying for the 2026/27 European Championship.

The team, coached by Razmik Grigoryan, will train from September 28 to October 5 at the FFA Technical Centre / Football Academy.

During the camp, Armenia will play two friendly matches against Estonia U19. The games are scheduled for October 2 and 5.

A total of 23 players have been called up.

Five new players compared with the March qualifiers

The core of the team still consists of players who featured in the first round of the 2026/27 European Championship qualifying campaign in March.

Razmik Grigoryan selected 20 players for that tournament. All three goalkeepers — Artur Petrosyan, Nubar Gishyan and Roman Khachatryan — remain in the current squad, along with the majority of the outfield players.

Compared with the March squad, there are five new players:

• Janik Davtyan — Sardarapat

At the same time, two players who took part in the March camp and qualifiers are absent from the new squad — Daniel Ambartsumov of Krasnodar and Martin Shahgeldyan, who moved from France to a club in the Armenian First League this summer.

There is a possibility that Ambartsumov will be called up to the Armenia U21 national team.

Several players have also changed clubs over the past six months. For example, Artur Petrosyan represented Pyunik-2 in the spring but is now listed as a BKMA-2 player. Zhirayr Ashikyan moved from Pyunik to BKMA, David Davtyan switched from Noah-2 to BKMA, while Martun Hovhannisyan and Harutyun Movsisyan are now listed as players of Ararat-Armenia's senior team.

Armenia U19 were unbeaten in the first round

The current team enjoyed a successful first qualifying round in Turkey in March 2026.

Armenia opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Kosovo, then recorded the same score against group hosts Turkey, before thrashing Gibraltar 9-0 in the final round.

As a result, Razmik Grigoryan's side completed the first round without a single defeat, collecting five points. Kosovo finished first and moved up to League A, while Armenia retained their place in League B.

In the second round, Armenia have been drawn into Group B6, where they will face Cyprus and Albania. The winner of the three-team group will be promoted to League A for the third qualifying round.

The second-round matches are expected to be the team's main competitive test this autumn.
