From March 9 to 15, the Serbian city of Zrenjanin will host the 2026 European U23 Wrestling Championships under the auspices of United World Wrestling. The tournament will mark the first major start of the season and open the international calendar for Armenian wrestlers.
Armenia’s squad has already been finalized. The team heads into the championship aiming to improve last year’s results. At the previous U23 European Championships in Albania, Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers won two bronze medals and placed sixth in the team standings. The freestyle team performed even better, claiming gold, silver, and bronze medals to finish fourth overall.
It is also noteworthy that in 2026 the national teams of Russia and Belarus will compete under their national flags and take part in the battle for team rankings for the first time in the past three years.
