Girona Rumors and a Stellar Start: Spertsyan Speaks Out

Armenia national team midfielder Eduard Spertsyan became the main star of the first round of the Russian Premier League, where Krasnodar confidently defeated Pari Nizhny Novgorod away — 3:0. The footballer scored a goal and provided an assist, which earned him the Man of the Match award.

In an interview with "Match TV", Spertsyan summarized the season opener and noted that the team is far from its best form:

— How satisfied are you with your performance? It’s too early to say. There’s a lot we need to improve. We’re only starting to gain momentum and are not yet fully fit physically. There were problems in both halves. But we scored, and that’s what matters. More importantly, we kept a clean sheet. Still, we need to grow and keep working hard, — the midfielder emphasized.

Spertsyan was also asked about rumors linking him with a transfer to Spanish side Girona. He denied the speculation:

— I didn’t say anything. These are just rumors that have been circulating for three years. I don’t know anything specific, and there’s been nothing official.

In the second round, which will take place on July 26, Krasnodar will host Lokomotiv Moscow.

As a reminder, according to Armenie Football, Girona is actively negotiating to sign Spertsyan.
