FC Shirak from Gyumri showed resilience and secured a comeback 2–1 win over Yerevan’s Ararat in Matchday 25 of the Armenian Premier League. Despite conceding an early goal, the Gyumri side managed to turn the tide and delight their fans with three valuable points.
The first goal of the match came in the 23rd minute when Ararat midfielder Kalifala Doumbia scored a stunning volley, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. It was the Malian’s first goal of the current season.
After the break, Shirak significantly stepped up their game and began creating more dangerous chances near the opponent’s goal. In the 71st minute, Serozha Urushanyan equalized with his debut goal of the season. Then, in the 85th minute, Rafik Misakyan put Shirak ahead, sealing the final score. It was Misakyan’s third goal of the season and his second in a row — he’s hitting form at a crucial point in the campaign.
After 25 rounds, Shirak sits in sixth place on the league table with 28 points. Ararat, meanwhile, continues its fight for survival, currently in ninth place with 20 points.
