Six Armenian boxers reach the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Championships and secure prize money

At the 2025 IBA Boxing World Championships, the Armenian national team continues its confident performance. On December 8, six Armenian representatives advanced to the quarterfinals, guaranteeing themselves at least $10,000 in prize money — the amount awarded for fifth place.

The prize fund of the 2025 World Championships is distributed as follows:

  • World Champion — $300,000

  • Silver Medalist — $150,000

  • Bronze Medalist — $75,000

  • 5th place — $10,000

Six Armenian quarterfinalists

The following athletes advanced to the quarterfinals:

  • Baregam Harutyunyan (48 kg)

  • Artur Bazeyan (60 kg)

  • Hovhannes Bachkov (67 kg)

  • Artush Hovhannisyan (80 kg)

  • Narek Manasyan (92 kg)

  • Davit Chaloyan (+92 kg)

All of them secured confident victories on December 8 and will continue their fight for medals and major cash prizes.

  • 48 kg: Baregam Harutyunyan (Armenia) — Teerapat I-Tan (Thailand) 4:1

  • 60 kg: Ebenezer Ankrah (Ghana) — Artur Bazeyan (Armenia) 0:5

  • 67 kg: Almaz Orozbekov (Kyrgyzstan) — Hovhannes Bachkov (Armenia) 0:5

  • 67 kg: Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev (Uzbekistan) — Armen Mashakaryan (IBA Pro) 4:1

  • 75 kg: Vakhtang Harutyunyan (Armenia) — Fazliddin Erkinboev (Uzbekistan) 0:5

  • 80 kg: Zachary Brown (Australia) — Artush Hovhannisyan (Armenia) 1:4

  • 92 kg: Leo Nicholson (Australia) — Narek Manasyan (Armenia) — Manasyan wins by TKO in Round 2

  • +92 kg: Muhammad Abroriddinov (Tajikistan) — Davit Chaloyan (Armenia) 0:5

After five days: Armenia continues with 11 athletes

  • Ararat Harutyunyan (71 kg)

  • Vakhtang Harutyunyan (75 kg)

  • Armen Mashakaryan (67 kg)

When are the next fights?

  • December 10 — Quarterfinals: six Armenian boxers will fight for a place in the semifinals and at least a bronze medal.

  • December 9 — Round of 16: Rudol Garboyan (51 kg), David Egoryan (54 kg), Jirair Sargsyan (57 kg) and Rafael Hovhannisyan (86 kg) will take to the ring.

The Armenian team remains one of the largest contenders in the medal race and is confidently moving toward the final stages of the 2025 World Championships.
