The 2025 Karate World Championship Kicks Off Today in Cairo: Schedule and How to Watch Online

The 2025 Karate World Championship has officially started today in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The tournament has brought together the top 32 athletes in each weight category according to the world rankings. Under the regulations, participants are divided into 8 subgroups of 4 athletes each, with the top two karatekas from every group advancing to the Round of 16.
On the first day of competition, Suren Harutyunyan (75 kg) will represent Armenia. He has been placed in the third subgroup and will have three bouts against opponents from Uzbekistan, Mexico, and Russia. The results of the group stage will determine whether the Armenian athlete can continue fighting in the playoffs.
Tomorrow, on November 28, another Armenian representative — Gor Nersisyan (84 kg) — will enter the tatami, starting his performance from the group stage.
