The Armenian national futsal team has suffered further squad setbacks ahead of the start of the 2028 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers. Due to injuries, Denis Nevedrov and Karen Petrosyan will miss the national team's upcoming training camp.
Armenia head coach Antonio Fernandez has already selected replacements for the injured players. Erik Lazaryan from Yerevan and Artur Mkrtchyan, who represents reigning Armenian champions Unisport, have been called up to the national team.
It was previously announced that team captain Vladimir Sanosyan would also be unavailable after suffering an injury that required surgery.
As a result, Armenia will be without two key players — Nevedrov and Sanosyan — ahead of crucial international fixtures. Both played significant roles in Armenia's historic campaign at UEFA Futsal EURO 2026.
Armenia made their first-ever appearance in the final tournament of the European Futsal Championship in 2026 and managed to reach the knockout stage, advancing to the Round of 16.
Antonio Fernandez's side must now begin their new qualifying campaign without several important squad members.
Armenia will play their opening match of the 2028 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers against Hungary on October 20. The national team's preparatory training camp is scheduled to take place in Yerevan from October 11 to 20.
