On February 23, the European Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship under the auspices of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) concluded in Belgrade. In the super heavyweight division (+97 kg), the title was claimed by 21-year-old Armenian fighter Sargis Beloryan, representing France.
Throughout the tournament, Beloryan demonstrated a high level of preparation and confidently defeated all his opponents. In his first two bouts, he overcame two Italian fighters—one by submission and the other by judges' decision. In the final, Sargis was set to face Georgia’s Lexo Sabanidze, but the fight did not take place. The medical commission did not clear the Georgian fighter to compete, which automatically made Beloryan the European champion.
This title marks Beloryan’s first major achievement at the senior level. Previously, he had already found success in youth MMA, becoming the world champion among fighters under 20 years old.
