Sargis Begoyan — U20 European Champion in Freestyle Wrestling

Armenian wrestler from Artashat Sargis Begoyan has won his first-ever gold medal at the U20 European Championships. Previously, he had only competed in the U15 tournament, where he claimed bronze back in 2021. In 2025, 19-year-old Begoyan made his debut at the U20 European Championships and immediately captured the title in the 61 kg weight class.
In the final, the Armenian defeated the tournament's top favorite — Russia’s Adlan Saitiev — with a score of 6:5. Begoyan displayed mature, tactically intelligent wrestling, confidently controlling every bout on his way to the gold.

In addition to Begoyan’s gold, Armenia’s U20 freestyle wrestling team earned another medal — bronze.
Razmik Yepremyan took third place in the 86 kg weight class. In the bronze medal match, he confidently defeated Azerbaijan’s Muhammad Abaszada with a score of 3:0.
