Gyumri-based club Shirak has announced the signing of central defender Ruben Karagulyan from Gandzasar.
The 22-year-old footballer is a graduate of Moscow’s Spartak academy. In the current Armenian Premier League season, Karagulyan has featured in six matches. Standing at 194 cm tall, he is one of the tallest defenders in Shirak’s squad.
Karagulyan’s move is Shirak’s first transfer of the current transfer window. The club has also strengthened its squad with the return of Armenia U21 national team players Suren Tsarukyan and Narek Janoyan from military service at BKMA (effectively a loan spell).
At the same time, Razmik Hakobyan, Robert Darbinyan, and Serezha Urushanyan have left the Gyumri club.
After the first half of the season, Shirak sit in 9th place in the Armenian Premier League standings with 10 points — the same total as 8th-placed Gandzasar.
