On 27 July 2025 in Athens (Greece) the draw for the World Championship among boys under 17 in Greco‑Roman wrestling took place. The Russian team was registered in full, but the Russian athletes did not appear in the final participant brackets.
The reason for their exclusion is simple: the Russian wrestlers failed to obtain visas to Greece in time and therefore could not arrive for the draw. Thus, the World Championship will be held without Russian representatives.
The draw and the freestyle wrestling tournament in the U17 category are scheduled for 31 July, with competitions beginning on 1 August. The Russian freestyle wrestlers are expected to complete all necessary paperwork in time and participate in the tournament.
The Greco‑Roman wrestling competitions start on 28 July, and the absence of Russian athletes will be felt already on the first day of competition.
