Ferencváros head coach Robbie Keane was pleased with the away victory over Yerevan's Noah (2:1) in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. In an interview with the club’s YouTube channel, the Irish specialist emphasized that even after conceding a goal, he never lost faith in his team’s success.
The full interview is available on Mandiner.hu.
“We controlled the game for most of the first half until their goal,” Keane said. “Varga had chances that should have given us the lead before halftime. There was a short spell when we got a bit nervous, but we quickly regained control, and honestly, I didn’t consider any outcome other than a win.”
The coach also commented on the red card shown to his defender late in the match:
“I’m not sure that decision was justified — we need to review the moment again. But even with ten men, we remained organized. The substitutions worked perfectly, the boys showed character — this is what a team victory looks like.”
Looking ahead to the second leg, which will take place on July 30 in Budapest, Keane remains determined:
“We want to play a dominant game and secure a confident win. I’m really looking forward to this match — it’ll be the first game at our home stadium after the break. I’m sure the atmosphere will be fantastic.”
The winner of the Ferencváros vs Noah tie will face the winner of Rijeka (Croatia) vs Ludogorets (Bulgaria) in the next round of the Champions League.
Sandro Perković: “We still have a chance — we’re going to Budapest for a surprise”
