Yerevan-based FC Noah suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat against Hungarian champions Ferencváros in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. The match took place on July 22 in Abovyan.
The Armenian champions opened the scoring early in the match thanks to an own goal by Danish defender Stefan Gartenmann. However, Ferencváros quickly responded, with Callum O'Dowda equalizing. The winning goal was scored in the 49th minute by Hungary international striker Barnabás Varga.
Noah still has a chance to advance to the next round. The Armenian side could benefit from the suspension of Ferencváros' main central defender, Ibrahim Cissé, who received a straight red card in the 82nd minute. The second leg will be played on July 30 in Budapest.
Notably, Armenia national team forward Edgar Sevikyan came on for Ferencváros in the 77th minute.
Noah's lineup (4-3-3):
